I had to go to Halifax due to a pretty tragic event in my personal life, but in good flambette fashion, we decided to turn this into a perfect girl roadtrip!
We have decided to let you know the highlights of our trip. People often ask me what they should do when visiting Halifax, so here are some of our favourites! There is so much more to do, but we had a tight schedule.
1- Bar sofia
barsofia.ca
The most aesthetically pleasaing restaurant ever and it's so worth it. The Brussel sprouts and the cauliflower are unreal. I also have strong feelings for the mushroom birria tacos. I'm salivating while typing these lines. Their cocktails are also absolutely delicious. You must go!
2- Slowly Slowly
shopslowlyslowy.ca
If you are looking for a selection of carefully curated quality products, slowly slowly is your next stop! Marie and Tania set their eyes on a few items and even bought me the cutest claw clip to put a smile back on my face. I have pretty cool friends, let me tell ya!
3- Cafe Lara
cafelara.ca
I unfortunately couldn't go with the girls, but this charming cafe was only a short walk from the pilates studio I used to go to and I had already been a few times. Marie and Tania loved it! If you're someone who likes to tour cute coffee shops when visiting a city, add Cafe Lara to your list!
4- Portland street crêperie
portlandstreetcreperie.com
A little hole in the wall on Portland Street, Dartmouth's best street if you ask me..(Okay, tied with Ochterloney!) The Portland Street Crêperie holds a special spot in my heart. The owner is so kind and their crêpes are deeeelish! I basically always order the same thing: a Bon Matin with mushrooms. Oulton’s bacon, egg, cheddar with roasted garlic aioli, yuuuuum. It even has it's own name, The King, but it's not on the menu, I'm just spilling all my secrets. Tania was influenced and got the same one, but Marie opted for a sweet one: salted caramel with fruits. No one was disappointed, believe me.
5- Rainbow Haven
I NEEDED the ocean. Iykyk. The Rainbow Haven beach is very close to the city and the sand is beautiful! It's a vast beach, lots of parking and even changing rooms and washrooms. It's the perfect spot for a quick beach day, especially if you have to get back to the city pronto!
Worth mentionning
Duly noted - Marie found the cutest scissors. Java Blend - their K2 espresso blend is my absolute favourite and we brought some back, yay! Side Hustle - their smash burger and their garlic fries.
If our visit was longer
I love the Duncan's cove hike. Walking on the ocean's floor at Burntcoat head. Highwayman 's happy hour. Dinner at The Canteen or Brooklyn Warehouse. I think we have to go back for at least two weeks!
Here is the playlist we made for the occasion.
If Halifax is on your list and you haven't been yet, I hope this article is what you needed to DO IT!
