It was while brainstorming for this fun project that we had the idea of incorporating local finds, including hot chocolate from the Samson chocolate factory. Although their products are frankly delicious, it was our meeting with the owner that charmed us the most.As soon as we entered the chocolate factory, we got to taste one of Nancy’s creations (OMG!) and were shown the kitchen where she revealed some secrets of her charming profession. It was easy to see the great passion and creativity within her and we already had 100 questions to ask! We decided to ask a few questions (trying not to be too intense here..) to find out more about her career. Here is what we learnt.
With more than 20 years of experience, this businesswoman with a degree in pastry and chocolate from the Institut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec began by giving pastry classes and private conferences in people's homes. It was at that time that she started taking orders and creating, in her basement, which would then become the first home of her chocolate factory. In 2015, she moved production to the magnificent ancestral premises where you can now taste her creations, at 1066 Rue Champflour, in Trois-Rivières. You can find a beautiful glass room where you can see the team working while enjoying a chocolate delight. Pure happiness for the eyes, the mouth and the heart.
She tells us, with bright eyes, that what makes her most proud are the positive feedback she receives from customers and the happiness she brings them by offering them treasures that she takes pleasure in creating. It is also at night that most of her ideas come to her. Her favorite thing? Designing new items for different holidays, Whether it's Easter, Halloween or Christmas, she always has something new to offer and impress us!In addition to continually creating for her clients, Nancy teaches her craft every week. And if one thing is certain, it is that her passion is transmitted through her teaching!
The chocolate factory has just celebrated its 7th anniversary and we are sure that many more wonderful years are to come! Thank you Nancy for being so welcoming, for your warmth and for the time you took to discuss with us. You are a great example of female entrepreneurship. See you soon for a little sweet bite?PS. Did you notice the cat in their logo? We asked about it and we were told that the designer who came up with the logo at the time had simply decided to include a cat in it because of Nancy’s personality. One day a lady who entered the premises told Nancy that she had previously lived there with her cat, named Samson! Everything really happens for a reason!
