Roxane: Can you tell us a bit about your journey? How did art come into your life?
Véro: Art has always been part of my life! As a child, I loved diving into my imaginary world. I’d spend hours crafting alone in my room. I had a little studio space by the window with paint and an easel. From ages 8 to 15, I played piano almost every day. Growing up in a small remote community in Northern Ontario, I wasn’t really exposed to the art world, so I never thought I could turn it into a career. To me, that was something out of a movie! But when I started selling my first paintings in cafés around Quebec City, I began to see the possibility. My passion took over. And at 26, I took the leap to live fully from my art. It didn’t happen overnight… but I followed my heart and my intuition.
R: What inspires you the most right now?
V: Right now, my deep desire to become a mom in the coming years is a huge source of inspiration. My paintings are a bit like my babies. I create with so much love. It often feels like I’m “giving birth” several times a week in my studio! But I also feel a calling to share that love in other ways… I can’t wait to experience it with a little human. Art allows me to nurture that love—a love I dream of pouring into a family life filled with freedom, beauty, and discovery.
R: Does nature or the changing seasons influence your work?
V: Absolutely! And in a somewhat surprising way… winter is actually the season that inspires me the most. The whiteness of the snow gives me the same feeling as a blank canvas: everything is possible. In spring, I feel like I’m reborn with the blooming flowers! That’s when I dive deeper into my floral series. The smell of flowers literally gives me a burst of new energy.
R: Was our collaboration the first time you were inspired by a scent to create?
V: Yes, and I absolutely loved the experience—thank you! Creating based on a fragrance that evoked sunshine, lightness, and joy… it was pure magic. The artwork practically created itself. I’m a very sensory person by nature, so it really resonated with me. It’s definitely something I want to do again.
R: What’s the best thing your job has brought you so far?
V: Without a doubt: the people I’ve met. I have such a strong connection with my clients. They’re a vital part of my artistic journey. Some encounters have marked me for life—whether online or in person, sometimes even on the other side of the world. I love getting to know them and hearing the stories behind the artwork they chose: a birth, a retirement, a meaningful moment… That human connection is what makes my work so special. In recent years, I’ve even had the chance to meet clients during my travels abroad. To me, I have the most beautiful job in the world!
R: Is there one piece you’ll never forget?
V: Yes: Florence.
This piece was a tribute to the lead singer of Florence and the Machine, whom I was listening to non-stop at the time. On the very first Monday morning after officially becoming a full-time artist (I had just left my last “little side job”), I sold that painting… to someone in England. In Florence’s hometown. It was a magical moment. As if the universe was telling me: “Vé, you’re on the right path…”
R: And finally, my classic question: what’s your favorite Flambette fragrance?
V: Ohhh, that’s a hard one! After Zeste de Soleil, I’d say without hesitation: Fig and Cypress. I absolutely love it. My best friend gave it to me as a gift… so it holds an extra special place in my heart.
