Flambette, behind-the-scenes

The behind-the-scenes of a scented product company can feel a little abstract. So I thought I’d give you a peek behind the curtain!

Orders

Of course, we get orders! Orders from individuals are handled by me (Roxane). If your little packing slip says the order was prepared while listening to City and Colour, you can safely guess it was either Marie or me—Flambette’s two resident emos.

We have about 80 retailers across Quebec. When one of them places an order through their dedicated platform, Tania gets a notification and gets right to work preparing it!

Custom orders (ex: white labels) follow a slightly different process: Marie designs the label, Tania pours the candles, and Julie heats and labels them. True teamwork in action!

Production

You already know that Tania makes the candles, but our line goes way beyond that! Marie-Michelle makes the bath milk, bubble bath, and hand soaps. As for the reed diffusers, they’re usually done by whoever has a free moment—Tania or Marie. I’m in charge of the hand creams, while Julie is our go-to for fragrance oils, room sprays, and the final touches on the candles.

Beyond production

Tania also handles invoicing and inventory. Marie takes care of the *grown-up stuff*: payroll, taxes, cost tracking. She’s also the one behind all things visual—from design to photography—and she’s in charge of finding our suppliers for containers and other essentials.

As for me, I focus mainly on social media and customer service, while also helping with project management and plugging holes wherever they pop up. In a small team like ours, we really have to complement each other and stick together!

And product development?

That’s something all three of us dive into. Tania has an amazing nose for picking out fragrance nuances, and Marie has the eye to make sure our products look just as good as they smell.

So, that’s pretty much our day-to-day! Sprinkled with little squeals of joy when a cute boutique reaches out, or when a company like Simons or Linen Chest contacts us. We get to collaborate with artists we admire, plan our beloved workshop sale, and meet your lovely faces at markets.

Our days are full—and our hearts even more so, thanks to you!
