I’m having a hard time lighting my crackling candle. What can I do?
Like anything made with love, crackling candles require special care. Here are some tips to help you get the best of it :
Hold the candle on an angle when lighting it. Use a long lighter and let the flame burn for a few seconds against the wick. Trim wick to ¼″ before each use (tear burnt part).
For best results, burn until wax melts evenly across (min. 1 hour). This will prevent the formation of a hole around the wick, which would cause it to extinguish in futur uses. Container candles have a memory. The more even the wax melts on the first burn, the better it will burn afterwards.
Why won't my candle re-light?
Don’t worry! This is a common problem with wooden wick candles and can easily be resolved. The main reason a wick won’t stay lit is because the candle was not burnt correctly on the first burn. Use an hairdryer to melt the top of the candle until smooth. If your candle extinguishes the first time you light it, simply try relighting it until it catches, this may take a few tries. Now, enjoy!
