How to feel less blah after the holidays

Jan 4, 2022

by Roxane Gagnon

It's my return to work today and let me tell you, I feel like a block of cheese with my eyes in the same hole.

I made an effort to move every day during my vacation, but my energy is still lacking and I would have clearly stayed in bed all day. I want to thank my coffee and my smoothie for their support, my heroes.

How do you snap out of this post-holiday funk? Here's what helped me out today:

SKINCARE

I received a Sephora gift card for Christmas and I ordered the Rub-A-Dub Refining Exfoliating Gel from Saturday skin. Like magic, my order arrived today! The exfoliator removes dead skin – like you see it bunching up. It's really satisfying. It felt like my skin was saying: bye bye 2021. I'm sure a mask would have been good too, but I was too afraid to receive an invitation for a zoom meeting...

MAKE YOUR SPACE COZY

I recently found a Flambette candle that I had put aside since it was a little too wintery and I fell in love with it all over again. I'm really surprised that I didn't finish it last winter, but hey. Apple + spice was able to make my nose do a happy dance and make my return to work less painful. P.S. @Flambette; are you going to bring Apple+spice back next winter? Asking for a friend…

FUN BEVERAGES

I already mentioned it above, my drinks really helped me! I made myself a little espresso and a super simple banana, oat milk and peanut butter smoothie. If you're a fan of Queer Eye, the gorgeous Antoni uses almond butter instead of peanut butter and he adds cinnamon. There are, of course, a million possible combos, treat yourself! Remember to also drink water as if it was part of your job description.

END THE DAY WITH YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVITY

To end this brutal return to work, I'm going to a hot yoga class when when I'm done. I feel so refreshed (but I really don't look fresh, I swear) after a yoga class. In my opinion, moving our body allows us to reset. Followed by a shower, dinner, sleep and dreaming about the weekend!
